As was shown in the film, an NCAA investigator did actually pay the Tuohy family multiple visits. That’s because they doubted Michael’s eligibility for NCAA due to the great number of Fs he acquired on his high school grade cards.
Additionally, the operative wanted to be certain that his parents weren’t prodding him to enroll at the University of Mississippi, which was also their alma mater. The Tuohys choose Miss Sue, played by Kathy Bates, to instruct and guide Michael in his studies. They worked long hours every night after the athlete returned home from his football drill, showered, and changed clothes.
