Letting Mama Elephant Do the Heavy Lifting
Elephants have this amazing knack for remembering things and picking up on details. The people in the village were concerned that if they stepped in to get the calf out themselves, the mama elephant would notice it wasn’t her doing and might get upset. And let’s be honest, nobody wants to see a massive creature like that angry!
To keep things safe, the villagers hatched a smart plan. They arranged the pit so the mother could pull her little one out herself. This was a clever idea since they definitely had a healthy respect for how big and powerful she was. By doing this, they avoided any trouble and let her feel like she was the hero who rescued her baby.
