When the call came, the clinic gathered itself, quiet energy pulling into focus. The veterinarian spoke in a steady voice and made measured movements, while a nurse steadied the owner’s hands.
Puppy births can be chaotic, quick, and loud one minute, slow the next. Anticipation still feels the same every time, a pinch in the chest and a hush in the room. The first one arrived, slick and small, then another; the rhythm was building. So far, the signs were good, everything following the book, every breath recorded.
