Amber Valletta, 2004
Amber Valletta took the 2004 Met Gala theme, “Dangerous Liaisons,” and ran with it straight into Versailles territory. Dressed in full Marie Antoinette fantasy, she wore a corseted Maggie Norris top, a huge silk skirt by John Galliano, and a towering powdered wig that looked like it belonged on a cake topper.
The whole look was over-the-top in the best way, blending costume drama with high fashion perfection. She ruled the 1990s supermodel scene, starring in major campaigns for Prada, Chanel, Versace, and Armani, and landing 17 American Vogue covers. She made the jump to Hollywood with roles in “Hitch,” “What Lies Beneath,” and “Transporter II.”
