Hollywood Stars Who Served In The Military

Ernest Hemingway: Ambulance Driver During World War I

Ernest Hemingway served during the First World War, but his story is slightly different from the others. Technically, he never became a part of the US Army (though he wanted to) due to poor eyesight but determined to do his part in those crucial times, he took the job of an ambulance driver.

Being a famous novelist afterward, Ernest gave words to the gut-wrenching sights that often came across him – “we had to collect fragments of the dead”. This explains everything about how difficult it would have been at that time!
