Every Second Felt Longer
Hana’s breath caught as she crouched near the shivering bundle. Its fur was damp, its movements sluggish, its shape unfamiliar. Whatever it was, it didn’t belong alone on a hospital floor. Steve suggested calling a vet, but help wasn’t nearby. Hana didn’t hesitate—she called anyway. Her voice shook as she described everything: the eyes, the trembling limbs, the odd coloring.
