Bare and Brave at -49°F

When you attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks, you get frostbite bragging rights built right into your student experience. These students decided that 49°F was the perfect temperature to bust out bikinis and shorts, casually posing like they’re at a summer barbecue instead of standing in a snowdrift.
Their faces say “college spirit,” but their bodies are screaming for a heated blanket. This tradition of freezing for the sake of a great photo is a rite of passage in Fairbanks. If you can flex in swimwear when it’s cold enough to freeze your eyebrows mid-sentence, you’ve pretty much earned a degree in survival with honors.
