Of all the celebrity moments on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” this one was particularly awkward. In 2017, Ellen was chatting with “Roar” artist Katy Perry during a playful segment when she casually mentioned that the singer was single.
Katy, clearly amused, reminded her that she had actually been married before. Ellen looked confused and asked who the mystery husband was, only for the singer to deadpan that it was Russell Brand. The audience erupted in laughter as the comedian seemed caught off guard and had just realized she had even given them wedding gifts on the show. It was a rare moment where the quick-witted host was utterly stumped.
