Jack Nicholson is the definition of Hollywood cool. His rise began in the 1960s with “Easy Rider,” but the 1970s turned him into a film icon. He gave one of cinema’s most outstanding performances in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” winning an Oscar in 1975, and followed it with unforgettable roles in “Chinatown” and “The Last Detail.”
Each role had that trademark mix of charm, danger, and madness that only he could pull off. In the 1980s, he showed range again in “Terms of Endearment” and later in “As Good as It Gets,” earning more Oscars along the way. With twelve Academy Award nominations, his record speaks for itself.
