Barbara Mandrell – Born in 1948

When it comes to pure talent, Barbara Mandrell was in a league of her own. She could read music at five, play the steel guitar by eleven, and perform alongside country greats before most kids finished middle school.
By the 1970s, she became one of Nashville’s biggest stars with hits like “Sleeping Single in a Double Bed” and “(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don’t Want to Be Right.” Her mix of country charm and pop polish helped her win the CMA Entertainer of the Year award consecutively in 1980 and 1981. Barbara wasn’t just country royalty; she was the total showbiz package.
