When people talk about unforgettable movie moments, Bo Derek running along a beach in “10” always makes the list. That 1979 film made her an icon of the late 1970s. Before that, she’d been a model and actress trying to find her footing, but one role next to Dudley Moore changed everything.
She went on to star in “Tarzan, the Ape Man” in 1981 and “Bolero” in 1984, both directed by her husband, John Derek. The films stirred controversy, but she was never afraid to take bold chances. Away from Hollywood lights, she became known for her love of horses and her support for veterans’ causes.
