The Grim Reaper Tried, But These Famous Faces Said Hell No

Mel Brooks – Born in 1926

Mel Brooks turned laughter into an art form and did it his way. He first made his mark writing for “Your Show of Shows,” then co-created the clever spy spoof “Get Smart” in the 1960s. However, it was “The Producers” in 1968 that catapulted him to Hollywood stardom.

By the 1970s, he was unstoppable, giving the world “Blazing Saddles” and “Young Frankenstein,” two of the funniest films ever made. His quick wit and fearless humor earned him the rare EGOT status, earning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Off-screen, his friendship with Carl Reiner brought fans the hilarious “2000 Year Old Man” sketches.
