Elton John (Born in 1947) and David Furnish (Born in 1962): Music icon and filmmaker build a legendary life together
In 1993, Elton John wanted to meet new people, so a friend brought David Furnish to dinner. That simple introduction led to a lifelong partnership. David, a Canadian filmmaker and producer, clicked with Elton instantly, and the two started dating that same night. They entered a civil partnership in 2005 and officially married in 2014 when gay marriage became legal in the United Kingdom.
They have two sons, Zachary and Elijah, both born via surrogate. Together, they champion LGBTQ rights through the Elton John AIDS Foundation. David co-directed the musical documentary Tantrums & Tiaras about life with Elton, and yes, it’s just as fabulous as it sounds.
