Janelle Monáe knows how to serve drama on the red carpet, and the 2023 Met Gala was no exception. She arrived wrapped in an oversized black-and-white tweed coat over a giant hoop skirt, giving a nod to Karl Lagerfeld’s signature style. But in true Janelle fashion, there was a reveal. Mid-carpet, she removed the coat to show a sculptural cage hoop skirt layered over sheer lingerie. The look was playful, theatrical, and totally unforgettable.
She became a star through her albums like “The ArchAndroid” and acting roles in award-winning films like “Hidden Figures and Moonlight.” In 2022, she earned even more praise for her work in Glass Onion.
