Face Meets Cleats Without Refunds
Somewhere between a hurdle and a wrestling move, Antonio Brown turned a routine play into a full-contact circus at Heinz Field. While trying to dodge Cleveland Browns punter Spencer Lanning in 2014, the wide receiver took flight and landed a yellow cleat on Spencer’s facemask like he was planting a flag.
The NFL fined Antonio $8,200 for the midair acrobatics, but it is hard not to respect the commitment to chaos. Spencer, a punter, held his ground like a good sport, though the slow-motion replay crowned him an unwilling prop. No helmet commercial could have asked for better publicity than that flying kick delivered.
