Puckered Up Before Splashdown
Mid-flight and holding nothing back, Qin Kai of China managed to twist himself into a human cannonball during the London 2012 Olympic Games. His knees are hugged so tightly to his chest that even his muscles seem confused about which direction they are supposed to flex. That facial expression looks less like focused determination.
It’s more like a man bracing for a sudden punch from the sky. Between the cheeks pushed up into his eyes, and the skin waving under Olympic pressure, Qin gave gravity a run for its money. The water waiting below must have felt attacked by the amount of energy bundled into that one explosive second.
