Reality Looks Drunk and Disorderly in Every Single One of These Photos!

Mermaids Crash the Competition

Mary Killman and Lyssa Wallace of the U.S. synchronized swimming team pulled off a moment in 2011 that looked more like a sea creature than an athlete. During the Shanghai competition, one surged out of the water with arms reaching while the other’s legs kicked up like a makeshift fishtail.

Together, they created something so wild it belonged on a deep-sea expedition instead of an Olympic judging sheet. Precision usually defines synchronized swimming, but Mary and Lyssa turned it into an art form that blurred the line between sport and underwater theater. Every flick of water made it seem like they had been rehearsing with dolphins instead of coaches.
