Don Rickles: Seaman First Class
It was Don Rickles’s forte in insult comedy that kept him busy as a stand-up comic for more than 60 years. In fact, he was so passionate about making people burst into laughter that he kept performing even after going through multiple surgeries before his death.
A lesser known detail of the star’s career is that he was associated with the US Navy holding a position of Seaman first class for a couple of years before receiving an honorary release in 1946. Upon leaving service, he originally aspired for becoming an actor but turned out to be a distinctive comedian who always remained a favorite among audiences.
