Here’s the True Story Behind ‘The Blind Side’

Combatting Racism Wasn’t Simple

The movie brought out the depravities of racism in brief. Yet, in reality, the intolerance that Michael Oher faced was a much larger issue. As a homeless black child, he was lucky to move in with an affluent white family, but many couldn’t withstand his good fortune.

In real life, though, Michael was less timid than Quinton Aaron depicted him in the film. He learned to instantly flip off racial bigots in the stands during football games. The Tuohys did show few racist instincts at first, but later, they gladly confronted negative remarks from acquaintances about adopting Michael.
