In the movie, the Tuohy mother finds Michael out in a storm and instantly takes him in. The scene is indeed heart-touching and strongly resembles a conventional Hollywood plotline with emotional twists and turns. Yet, in real life, this happened in a slightly slower and less glamorous process than how the film portrays it. That’s not because the events in his life were less incredible than those in the movie, but because of how methodical they were.
