Ways to Get The Best From Your Brain Memory (And Tips on Spotting Alzheimer’s Disease)
Getting older, have you ever caught sight of yourself running around your house at the last minute, looking for car keys or your prescription glasses? Or maybe you forget the new neighbor’s name you met while walking your dog? It can be so frustrating but, not at all is it inescapable! There’s a number of things to do to help make your memory sharp!
Getting up to the age of 60, most adults have the same concerns: bad memory. However, minor memory slips occurring with age are usually not the sign of a serious issue such as Alzheimer’s disease; rather, it’s the result of normal changes that occur in the function and structure of the brain.

Dr. Anne Fabiny says that with aging, people tend to get more forgetful, but simple things can be done to avoid memory lapses and help your brain to be more active, being able to learn and remember better.
Dr. Fabiny has suggested the following tips:-
1. Assign a designated place to store all your essential things in one place such as your car key, wallet, glasses, and cell phone.
2. Avoid multitasking and noisy environments; today’s fast-paced society is the major cause of slow memory or memory loss.
3. Slow down and pay close attention to what you are being told or what you are doing so that the memory system of your brain has enough time to form a persisting memory
4. Try to minimize stress and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep daily.
5. Have a check-up with your doctor to make sure any of your medication doesn’t have an effect on your memory.

WHAT IF I HAVE ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE?
Well, as a matter of fact, these minor memory slips don’t necessarily mean that you are headed towards Alzheimer’s. It is just scientifically proven, that after the age of 50, your ability to learn new information and recollecting it may decline. Although, if it starts to interfere in your daily routine and tasks like managing your finances and healthcare, forgetfulness can turn out to be a serious problem.

If things get out of hand, and you find it increasingly difficult to perform your daily tasks, or if you’re just having way too much memory loss than what you think is normal, don’t hesitate to consult your doctor. With the help of medical and neurological exams, you will be able to reach a definite answer quicker, which will hopefully help you sleep better at night!
